Mirjana Lenček

Topic: THE VALUE OF EARLY LITERACY – MILLIONS OF REASONS TO ENCOURAGE IT

Full professor in a permanent position from 2017 until today. Employed at the Department of Speech and Language Pathology, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Zagreb.

The area of interest – specific learning difficulties / disorders: dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia. She teaches at the Undergraduate and Graduate Study of Speech and Language Pathology and at the Postgraduate doctoral study Speech, Language and Hearing Disorders.

She has published more than 60 scientific papers and five professional papers. She has given four invited lectures at scientific conferences. With more than 90 papers she has actively participated in international conferences. She has participated in ten scientific-research and six professional projects.

Since 2014, as a member of the Management Committee, she has been involved in the work of the COST network (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) within the European Literacy Network (ELN) project. 

She is the co-author of the test for the Assessment of Reading and Writing Prerequisitesest for the Assessment of Reading and Writing Prerequisites Kuvac Kraljevic, J., Lencek, M. (2012) Test for the Assessment of Reading and Writing Prerequisites (PredČiP test)Jastrebarsko: Naklada Slap. She is the editor of two expert handbooks.  She is the author of five brochures on dyslexia, three CDs, a workbook and an exercise book.

She has finished a number of trainings in the field of language development, reading and writing and specific learning difficulties. She has held more than 50 different educational programs on dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia.

Since 2016, she has been a member of the Commission for the Approval of Adjustments at the State Matura at the National Centre for External Evaluation of Education. She is a member of the Croatian logopedic association (CLA), the Croatian Association for Dyslexia (CAD) and the Croatian Association on Early Childhood Intervention (CAECI).
